Ron Parker - Guitar Lessons

I have been a guitarist for over 43 years beginning when I was ten years old.

My brother, Aaron Parker, who is also a guitarist and multi-musician, and I used to put on mini rock concerts daily. We painted our bedroom light "black" with black paint to have a black light! It stunk SO BAD it would drive you out BUT we didn't care...Rock'n Roll All Night.....:-)

Initially, my focus on the guitar was rock and metal music. I was self taught but had some great people helped me along the way: Shamus Nee was a huge help and influence to me and taught me allot to get me going. Pete Finkle was a huge influence as well but I never really got to play with him until much later.

My greatest musical influence was my uncle Victor Sanborn (GRS). He absolutely lived and breathed music 24/7. He knew all the bands, their members, what their backgrounds were...like baseball stats...lol. From him I learned to appreciate all kinds of music and he turned us on to Jazz, Rock, Metal, Progressive..you name it. He took us to countless concerts as kids!! I am forever in his debt!!

Approximately 15 years into my musical journey I decided it was time to have a better understating of the guitar and music generally.

I then studied Classical Guitar for 2yrs with Michael Katz, who was the head Classical Guitar Teacher at USM at that time. I then decided to go to college for music was accepted at USM as a Music Major and began my musical education journey whch ended abruptly as I became a father and had other priorities. During this time I also began to study with Michael Silvesteri (GRS), a phenom Classical Guitarist from NY, from whom I learned a ton!

After this, I studied orchestration, advanced theory & musical composition on my own.

I have taken master classes with some of the finest musicians on the planet! While I do not suggest that makes me of them by any means I have learned a great deal from them to apply to own music and in teaching others.

This photo was taken in Long Island NY with some of the finest guitarist on the planet including: Gutherie Govan, John Petrucci, Al Demiola among others!

I have also been a member of several original music bands where I contribute musical and lyrical ideas. Some of these bands are Black Talon (released EP in 1988), A.D. (released album in 1994), Orphyn (released album in 2016..still available in music stores online). I also released two solo albums.

Photo is Orphyn in 2016.
